hello haru; happy hump

since we’re half way through the week, i thought i’d give you a weekend restaurant to prepare for. get on www.opentable.com now and make your reservations before they book up. the coolest part about open table is, once you sign up for an account, make reservations and attend your dinner, you will receive points, ultimately leading to a free gift certificate to your restaurant of choice. so get on that, right away.
haru [43rd & 7th] it’s sushi time
escape to this modern day japanese restaurant for fantastic sushi and drinks. the ambiance makes you forget you’re right in the heart of times square and the fresh fish takes you straight to japan. ok, maybe i’m getting a little far-fetched now.
explore the strawberry fin roll: jalapenos[strawberries]mango[yellowtail]scallop. and then top it off with a peach saka-tini. holy deliciousness.

despite the cloudy skies and drizzle, the annual 9th avenue food festival was a great success this past weekend. there were empanadas, corn on the cob, turkey legs, gyros, fondue and your favorite carnival food [ funnel cakes, fried oreos, zeppoles, french fries] all around. caramel covered apples were scarce but as always, they made the trip to the food fest worth while.

people came from all over; across the bridges, tunnels, and avenues to come check out the 17 blocks of food galore. frozen drinks, fried bananas, assorted sodas, everything bad for you found on one avenue. and then there were some carnival games, clothes, sunglasses, jewelry and trinkets thrown among the mix. something for everyone of all ages. check out the scene below and maybe you can find a rain check for next year.

on a warm spring night, go join the fiesta in the fantastic west village neighborhood

caliente cab co [ 61 7th Ave S ] mexican and tex mex at its finest. sit outside and do what i do best; people watch.
start off the evening by enjoying some of the freshest guacamole with a tall frozen strawberry margerita with an extra shot of patron. then dig into some flavorful fajitas. the steak is fresh, plenty of onions, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, beans and sour cream for anyones liking. then when your belly is full and you feel well fed, salsa your way to the outside of the building to take a ride in the original 1950 studebacker parked right out front.

geek chic glasses
the thick framed, old school style, most commonly seen among your favorite celebrity geek-sters have been brought back to the runways. look out for them even in new flicks, like ‘something borrowed’. opt for a pair to avoid having to wear make-up because these babies are what everyone will be looking at. i already have my favorite picked out and ready to wear. geek has never looked so good.
